Telecommunication

The Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) plan was formulated by the Malaysian Government to provide wider coverage and better quality of broadband experience for its people, whilst preparing the country for 5G technology.  PPM was the project management partner of one of the Part 1 - Designated Universal Service Providers in Sarawak, who was responsible for erecting 269 telecommunication towers Sarawak, mostly in remote rural sites.

Valsa (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd (Valsa) was appointed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as one of the Part 1 Designated Universal Service Providers in Sarawak and is responsible for constructing 269 telecommunication towers throughout Sarawak as part of the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) program.  Some of the towers are in remote rural without road access and requiring multiple handling.
 
Valsa appointed Project & Programme Matters Sdn Bhd (PPM) as the Project Management Consultant (PMC), offering services including budgeting, coordinating with stakeholders, procurement, scheduling, progress reporting and design.  

The project team had faced a number of challenges, including land matters, co-ordination with Part 2 - DUSPs (telecommunication providers) and other authorities, tower supply issues, remote and inaccessible sites, multiple handling, flooding, landslides and steep slopes, etc.    PPM as the project manager had to resolve these challenges and push ahead to meet the USP targets.
