Project Manager (Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia)

Job Description
We are looking for a Project Manager to work on a number of power utility projects in Sarawak from July 2016.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects. S/he will: 

• Lead the planning and implementation of project.
• Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
• Define project tasks and resource requirements.
• Develop full scale project plans.
• Assemble and coordinate project staff.
• Manage project budget.
• Manage project resource allocation.
• Plan and schedule project timelines.
• Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
• Provide direction and support to project team.
• Conduct quality assurance
• Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
• Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
• Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
• Conduct project evaluations and assessment of results.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

• 10-12 years of substation job experience
• Experience in project execution strategy.
• Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
• Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
• Direct work experience in project management capacity
• Proven experience in people management
• Proven experience in strategic planning
• Proven experience in risk management
• Proven experience in change management
• Proficiency in project management software
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to quickly evaluate all facets of a situation or problem, determine viable alternatives and implement the best solution
• Ability to define and track overall Program milestones and associated deliverables

Technical skills

• Familiar with project execution strategy.
• Expert with site construction and quality surveillance.
• Expert with code of practices.
• Good management skills and knowledge of project management techniques.
• Good technical knowledge on substations systems design, primary plant and secondary plant/systems, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance processes.
• Good knowledge of local authority/statutory requirements, regulations and engineering practices.
• Strong business acumen & commercial background.
