Commercial Manager (Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia)
Job Description
We are looking for a Commercial Manager with at least 3 years of experience to work on a number of projects in Sarawak and other parts of Malaysia.  The successful candidate will be a construction industry professional with good appreciation of cost, contracts and the commercial elements of large projects. S/he will: 
  •  Advise the team and the client on commercial and contract matters relating to projects, from inception to commissioning phases.
  • Obtain, verify and consolidate cost information, including on risk items and variation orders, on a minimum month-to-month basis.
  • Lead the team in various commercial and contract tasks, such as discussions on contract terms and conditions, project risk management, procurement, contract administration and contractor negotiations.
  • Hire, lead and train team members in commercial and contract matters
​Requirements
  • Be fluent in English and Malay and/or Mandarin Chinese 
  • Willing to travel frequently and extensively and work outside of office hours when required











  • Have a proven track record in managing teams 
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility for own works, and review and critique submissions from others
  • ​Confident and proactive in communicating with and presenting to different audiences, including clients
  • Have a good understanding of the commercial nature of the construction industry
  • Have the experience of working with standard forms of contracts, including JKR, PAM and FIDIC
  • Have a high degree of competency in Microsoft Office products, in particular Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
Qualifications
  • A construction industry background, preferably with an engineering, quantity surveying or construction management degree.
